The award winning H2 surf
fin is the result of a long
and very synergistic partnership
combining the technical design
skills of the MBD office with
Surf Hardware International’s
industrial design capabilities,
manufacturing methods, and overall
knowledge of the surfing industry.
Tests of the fins during the
development process, both in
the controlled environment of
the cavitation tunnel, and in
the very uncontrollable environment
of the surf provided critical
input to the final product.
The success of this project
has validated and reinforced
our belief that ocean vehicle
design optimisation must be
done in the context of the pilot
and crew. A vehicle that handles
well for the pilot can be pushed
hard with confidence, therefore
developing more of its potential.
We continue to work with SHI
and expect to bring to market
our next development within
six to nine months.
