| The Murray Burns & Dovell partnership
was forged in the technology blast furnace of the
America’s Cup in 1989 and went on to play
central roles in the design and campaign of two
America’s Cup Programs. MBD has made an undeniable
mark in the yachting world.
Our designs are known for their signature sea-worthiness,
elegant lines and blistering performance. The
accelerated learning curve of America’s
Cup keeps us well positioned for cutting edge
design of both high performance custom and production
racing yachts. Specialising in racing yachts,
we have forged forward into breakthrough performance
technologies yet have still managed to have Thirteen
of our designs offered as production.

IAIN MURRAY, A.M.
Iain’s natural feel for design was
clearly evident even from his early years
in the 18’ skiff class in Sydney where
he won an unprecedented six out of six world
titles; in boats he both designed and built.
From the skiffs Iain moved quickly on to
bigger boats claiming several titles along
the way including an Etchells World Title
in 1984, the 12m World Championships in
1987, the Match Racing World Championship
in 1987, and the Maxi-Boat World Championship
in 1988.
Iain’s role in the MBD office today
is as Project Overseer and Adviser. Iain
is often involved in establishing the design
concepts in the early stages of design development
and in making the concepts work once the
boats are on the water. |
